This afternoon was largely dedicated to dealing with the fruit I bought at the market on Wednesday. For a change, I decided to make jam with the cherries (5 euros for 2 kg), but I still haven't tired of the lovely apricot compote. These ingredients become a slightly tart, brilliant orange puree, flecked with tiny specks of vanilla, and the rosemary adds a subtle extra note. We had some for dessert this evening, with a dollop of Greek yoghurt.

Curiously ... I took this photo because I liked the way the apricot looked against the mint-green chopping board I was using. But the camera seems to have decided that the background isn't green at all. Very odd.
