Today marked a first experience with Chat GPT after someone in our breakout group suggested using it to craft some text for a task we’d been charged to complete. Of course we were very cynical as conservationists are not known for their willingness to embrace new technologies. I also noticed cynicism highly correlated with age, with some older colleagues snorting with indignation at the idea, clearly concerned that it represents the final nail in the coffin for human intellect.

However once we tested it, the platform’s ability to interpret instructions is scarily good and helpful in equal measure, and it did produce some very good text. I will resolve to use Chat GPT for proposal-writing in the future. It could save eons of time.
