A stonking late afternoon trip with a group of colleagues to Nairobi National Park, marking the end of our week together. Rhino mother with calf framed by a moody city skyline, a lioness so sated she couldn’t move from her horizontal position on the road, and large numbers of buffalo, giraffe and ostrich.

Great to see the Park wet and lush after so many years of inadequate rainfall across southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. El Niño is currently reversing the situation quite aggressively.

The vehicle I was in had a renegade driver who was happy to stay in the Park until rangers did their sweep at dusk. We were very grateful for this elongated trip, and returned to the hotel late and very satisfied.
