Lexy

For those who saw my Charabanc on Father's Day I nearly had a follow up blip with a queue of a dozen or so men in kilts waiting to board one of the London red buses outside the Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh. They were from a party of 40 or so in Highland dress.

But instead today's blip has to go to Lexy, a former colleague and friend who has worked for the British Association for Adoption and Fostering for numerous years.

Her knowledge is encyclopaedic. Her commitment to getting the right decisions taken for children is unquestioned. And if she thinks what is being proposed in law is wrong she can be trenchant in her arguments. And a lovely person to boot who rejoices in one of the most wonderful names: Lexy Plumtree.

Lexy does not like photos being taken of her but I was allowed one. After several attempts to get her to smile I took this, not realising that the statue in the City Chambers Councillors' Lounge behind her gave her the effect of flowers in her hair. But I think it captures her warmth.
