Two swans

They're cooried up together in the frigid water. We saw another pair of swans up at Black Springs, who just had their own bit of water amidst the frozen reservoir.

We made our first foray to the Pentland Hills since March 2022. Although we only intended to walk around Harlaw in the early morning light, we were tempted to do the extended Harlaw Potter, and both felt the better for the exercise and the leg stretch. I took quite a few photographs, so stuck them in my Pentland Walks Flickr album (the first 17 photographs).

Aside from a few bits of domestica (replacing a tricky lightbulb - one of Mr A's specialist subjects), we've not done a great deal with the rest of the day. We've retreated to Mr A's study as it is cold and there is no point in heating a very large room when we can heat a much smaller one. I have finished Thunderclap. I'll pass it on to hazelh when I see her later this week, so I won't say much more until she's had a chance to read it. On the basis of reading two books in the first week of the year, do you think I can aim at 100 in the year (hollow laugh....)?
