An ordinary life....

Still calorie free....

till Monday!  :-)

As I mentioned in yesterday's blip, Norma has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease.  One of they ways it manifests itself is nighttime wandering.  It happened in their hotel in Oban over Christmas (John found her in the corridor outside their room looking for the kitchen) and it happened at ours last night.

We left the hall lights on as I was worried about her leaving their bedroom and heading to the stairs.  Thankfully she headed to the front bedroom instead than to ours.  The handle on our bedroom door turns the opposite direction to what you'd expect and the noise of the handle trying to be turned woke D up (I didn't hear a thing!) and he was able to direct her back to her room and bed.

In the morning she seemed to have forgotten about it so we didn't mention it (we had discussed it with John before Norma came downstairs and he said night time wandering is becoming a regular thing.  Worrying.)

We enjoyed brunch together and they got to spend some more time with Alan before they headed off.  Alan's support worker Vickie (the one who bakes in her spare time :-) brought in four chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes.  These are a new recipe and she was keen to get feedback. Gave two to Norma and John and kept two for us.  Well I can tell you the feedback was very positive indeed :-))

And then the job of taking down the decorations began.  I'm normally glad to see the back of them but felt quite sad this year.  Not helped by the fact the tree is still beautiful.  Hardly a needle dropped.

So engrossed were we in taking the decs down that I forgot I was supposed to be making a roast chicken dinner!  The chicken didn't go in the oven till 7.00pm.  Thankfully it wasn't a large chicken so was cooked in just over an hour.  We were starving by the time we sat down to eat so really enjoyed it and the roasties, roast carrots and stuffing.

That set up us for the final two episodes of Series 4 of Shetland. My favourite yet.
