If you can't beat them...

Male Sparrowhawk ( Accipiter nisus )

In the afternoon we went out for a wander round the village, I took various shots thinking of blip.  Later when I walked into the living room Clickychick was using a long lens through the window.  I asked what was thereand the reply "Sparrowhawk!"

As I grabbed my camera I was told it had moved from close to the window to the squirrel feeder.  It often uses that as a plucking post.  Sure enough there it was casually plucking a Great Tit.  The typical age for a Sparrowhawk is 4 years.  I know it isn't possible to identify individuals but it is always a male that comes and I am sure it has been calling for more than 4 years.
