Thacka Nature Reserve

A rough area of land bounded by the railway line and an industrial estate with a dual purpose. It forms a reservoir to hold back excess water from flooding Penrith by a little beck that runs under the town centre, and a quiet nature reserve.

The water and marshland are completely surrounded by a fence so what wildlife there is there is undisturbed. Today we saw mallard, ,coot, gulls and a kestrel.

Although I am too tired to be bothered, I've been told it's important that I walk to exercise my heart muscle so, today, I suggested this easy walk of about 2,000 steps on a well-maintained path. The Man hadn't been before but I used to come here on my Sunday morning blip hunts.
