What's the point in superheroes?

What's the point in superheroes, when you've got all these characters on the street?
Town was particularly quiet today. Even the roads were quiet. This might have been down to two possibilities:-
a] the weather, or b] a certain Rugby match being played down in the Southern Hemisphere.
I think option (b) gets my vote.
