Gently down the stream

Hunting heron

I don't think I've ever seen a heron hunting away from the wetlands before.  This one was stalking through a stubble field well above the water meadows. I was fascinated to find out that herons will eat so much more than fish (and frogs).  Molluscs, shrews, field mice, lizards and small birds, to name but some.

It's been a lovely day, but very cold, and K and I have made great strides straightening out the rather crazy DWP systems she's come up against.  Definitely satisfactory, though I'm not at all sure I'll get to bedtime before my feet become totally icebound.

Wishing you all a great evening - and warmth!!  xx
