Praying mantis molt shell

I found this praying mantis molt shell in a cobweb and carefully untangled it. It's tiny, less than two centimetres long not counting the legs. It weighs next to nothing and even when I brought it in out of the merest breeze I had to breathe with care or hold my breath to photograph it.

I thought of the insect, ready to emerge, crawling out of that tiny hole in the back, then standing beside this ghostly replica of itself, right down to its feelers and compound eyes. Look at the left eye. Only the magnification of a lens can reveal such a surface which to me looks like something out of a plastics factory.
