The Met in a Minute

The guards were ushering us out of the museum as I snapped this photo, otherwise, you can be sure I would've walked around to check out the front of this nubile figure to see, uh, the name of the artist and the year it was created.

Once again, I'm blipping in the wee hours, so this will be brief.

After a relaxing day spent lazing in the sun, reading, crossword puzzling, doing a bit of my web work, I ventured into the city for a last get-together with my friend Brooke (last, for this year's visit). We hopped on the crosstown bus to head over to the Met, talking nonstop the entire way. The bus ride brought back memories of our college days where we spent so much time riding to and fro, and hours and hours in one museum or another.

We enjoyed a few drinks in the museum's Balcony Bar, complete with ETHEL & Friends, a wonderful string ensemble. Not having seen each other for almost a year, we had a lot of catching up, so our conversation went on for too long. By the time we were ready to leave the bar, the museum announced it was closing in 30 minutes! A whirlwind walk thru the Hellenic Period and it was time to leave. A stroll down Fifth Avenue on this warm summer evening brought us back to the crosstown bus, which brought us back to the west side for further conversation over a Mexican dinner, after which we bid each other adieu, until next year.

Those rippling biceps.

See more of the whirlwind tour.
