Red

As storm Isha raged everywhere else, we were remarkably unscathed despite being on the edge of the west coast. Full English was required to brace us for the clouds as we walked to Red Point beach but as we reached the headland the skies started to clear and could get glimpses of the Torridon Hills and Skye. It was rugged, it was boggy, it was glorious.
A wee drive through Gairloch and up to Cove, opposite the Isle of Ewe, where my newly found aunt ( see this blip for the mad story. https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2999760180104662206)
Has a cottage. Sadly not at home today but down in Hampshire, so we amused ourselves tried to find it. We didn’t! Nobody has numbers on their house here.
Instead we went over to Inverewe gardens which are majestic despite being a winter, vowed to come back in a better month.
Soup and a date slice in the Bridge Cafe then back for two more episodes of Slow Horses before dinner.
What a dinner! Shieldaig does have a magnificent chef and the French onion soup and langoustine side was exquisite.. our main, venison with the best baked onion I’ve ever tasted. Potato dauphinois, celeriac purée… mouth watering.
A jolly time in the bar and then we scooted upstairs back to Slow Horses to finish the series 2 off. Fantastic!
