Old Thai Man

John has mended up after a day in not great shape so that's all good. However as we got over that incident the next day we were on the road about 20 minutes and we noticed an oil leak on my bike that should not be happening. It was quite bad so we thought best to find somewhere to ask what it might be.

By luck we came across a bike garage that had some young guys working in it. They took one look at it and the next minute the bike was in bits all over the garage. It turned out that an oil seal had gone between the engine and the drive belt. This was not a good thing to happen and could well have caused all sorts of damage if w had not got onto it straight away. We spent 3/4 s of the day waiting for the part to arrive so it was once again a bit of a bummer.

The upside was that the kid that fixed the bike was fantastic. He did an awesome job and was so quick apart from the delay in getting the part which was not his fault.

When he finished up he went off to write up the bill and I was thinking that this may be costly. It cost 635 Baht which is about US$21. I could not believe it. This included the part, a litre of new engine oil, 2 litres of fuel taken out of his own bike to wash the oily parts down and all the labour.

How's that.

My blip today is an old guy we came across in a local roadside market. I reckon the market vendors in this part of thailand see a European in their market once in a blue moon. The market was so colourful and friendly. We were lucky it was a blue moon.
