Terris Novalis

Seen on our walk along the Waskerley Way in Consett, Co. Durham.  This is one of two sculptures made by Turner Prize Winner Tony Cragg.  They are very strange sculptures but certainly make you take notice of them.  Here is a little bit more about them if you are interested.  They were made as a lasting memorial to the steelworkers of Co. Durham.

I have also attached an extra photo of a huge piece of machinery which can be seen from the path.  It is known as a flask or a ladle wagon and was used for transporting hot materials in Consett Steel Works.  The Steel Works closed in 1982.
