Out of surgery!

The best news first - Mr PP texted to say he's out of surgery and is chomping on a pasty and sipping tea. Phew! The surgeon who did the biz had worked for some years with the surgeon who did Mr PP's first hip, six years ago, in Plymouth - the other side of the country! Small world. Tomorrow our son (who delivered his dad to the hospital this morning) and I will visit him. Such a relief to know it's done, whatever pain he must now work through. Knowing him, he will have started on his exercises as soon as he came to.

I have spent a big chunk of the day weeding a severely overgrown flower-bed in our son's garden. The weeds included clumps of grass, which housed these two stowaways. I think they may both be larvae of the Large Yellow Underwing moth (Noctua pronuba) as both colours can hatch from the same brood. Alternatively, the green caterpillar could be that of an Angle Shades moth (Pholgophora meticulosa). Do please say if you know about these critters!

Have just been licked within an inch of my life by Master Bug Pugglesworth, and provided with a tummy to tickle. I think he knows!
