Light and Shade…..

A walker strides along the path which leads from the main paths in the Taylor River Reserve. Maisie and I followed the tracks through the old Pony Club grounds to the Burleigh Bridge and back. I’ve not walked that route for going on three weeks and today found the area unbelievably dry. The Wither Hills Farm Park has been closed for several weeks due to extreme fire risk. The vegetative cover is tinder dry. The same situation has now occurred along sections of the Taylor River Reserve. Today the Council have advised Reserve users including cyclists, runners, walkers and their dogs should be keenly aware of “escape routes” along the tracks from the Burleigh Bridge and upstream to the Taylor Dam. Unprecedented advice. Council advises folk to walk in the early mornings and cooler evenings when fire risk is lower. The dry weather is very worrying indeed.
