Almond Aurora

Walked out the door this morning, across the dewy grass, to photograph our nearest almond tree. The other three, further up the Land, have pink blossom. Love the shape of this one's broken trunk.

Prayer walked into town, meeting Dan and Mireille at Morango. Then to the police station - they were perfectly pleasant, but haven't even sent off our car document yet - they said it would be in Évora by today, arghhh!

The town is filling up and the air of celebration is palpable. Every bed is full, restaurants are busy. The fireworks began this evening.

Gratefuls:
- a surprise visit from Rita, Miguel and their delightful baby, Xavier (who have had to stay way down the Lake at Alqueva because "no room in the inn" - wish we'd known!
- though we have no car, we do have a warm, cosy home, plenty of water, and beauty all around us
- and plenty of food; second meal from the roast chicken we had on Monday (eaten outside in the sunshine), and baskets overflowing with fruit
