So this road near us is going to be closed for resurfacing. But shortly thereafter, Highland Broadband will continue their works to install fibre access points outside each property, thus presumably digging the new tarmac straight up again. This seems suboptimal.

Meanwhile, we waited in vain for said Highland Broadband to turn up for a scheduled survey appointment to arrange to move the access point from one side of our cottage to the other. I got a couple of phone calls promising "half an hour" and then "an hour", but then radio silence. Their customer service leaves something to be desired, but even Mr A was asking me to try and put a lid on my irritation as we do actually want them to install the fibre....

An easy journey north this morning and then a quiet afternoon in the cottage with me working and waiting, and Mr A reading in his chair. The cottage was cold when we arrived, but has soon warmed up and there are hot water bottles in our bed. As ever, it feels like we've barely been away. We popped out to the supermarket, but then popped out again later for fish and chips as we decided we couldn't actually be bothered, either of us, to cook the stuff we had bought.... The usual fish and chip shop is closed, but the other one right across the street seems adequate.

There was the option of a swim at Inver, but I turned it down in order to wait, in vain, for Highland Broadband. However, I will definitely be swimming tomorrow.... Looking forward to a cosy weekend.
