Lucky

The veg counter was rather empty again with the latest 80-90mph winds stopping the ferries and food deliveries.  However, we need to get some perspective and there was more choice available than in many other places in the world. We are lucky indeed. 

A slight drama on the way in when I walked Berry.  I saw a big bird on the beach looking rather unhappy and on closer inspection found a Great Northern Diver - a beautiful bird and probably the individual we see on a regular basis crossing the barriers. I called the SSPCA and waited for them to arrive whilst keeping an eye on the bird. The good news is that the bird was unharmed but probably exhausted after coping with the high winds yesterday; the bad news is that we disturbed it and it went back into the sea. The SSPCA lady said that it was the best outcome, not being injured, but I can't help feeling we disturbed its much needed rest. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
