Not A Groundhog

Although apparently an American tradition, Groundhog Day is not something familiar to me, except perhaps because of the film of the same name. In the news today though and it seems an early spring is predicted, which certainly seems the case here.

Appropriately, I spotted a muskrat enjoying an unseasonably warm day in the sunshine. I managed three frames before he disappeared under the ice. Not a groundhog, I do have an image of one from 2019, but not on Blip.

According to the BBC, Groundhog Day originated in Europe and emerged in the Pennsylvania Dutch community.
