British

It's taken her a long time, but S (my ex) is now British. She's pictured here with her certificate and alongside the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. There were 20 people at the ceremony, from no less than 16 different countries. It was made fun and relaxed for everyone and (going along as S's plus one) I found it rather moving. It made me feel very proud to be British myself. Not that I was able to sing the national anthem at the end. I cannot bring myself to mouth the words. I like to think that I can be proudly British without being either Nationalist or Royalist. Anyway, S embraced the whole thing. She even had Union Jack fingernails.
