Sleeping Roses

It's February and time to winterize the garden and prune the roses.  And, every year I am sad to take pruning shears to blooming roses. "It's for the best..." I remind myself.  To soften the blow, the decapitated blossoms sharing their last bit of color and scent for the season, adorn a vase in the kitchen.  I know they will bloom ever stronger in just a few months.
