There Must Be Magic

February Floral Interlude

I hear that the mild spell of weather that we have been having in central PA will be coming to a screeching halt soon. We have a big pre-Valentine's Day snowstorm coming. First they said two to four inches. Now, six or more. But that's the future, which may or may not be exactly how it turns out. Here is one of the great blessings of Blip: It lets me focus - for now - on only what IS.

The mild weather means that the plants have gotten to spend a couple of days and even overnights outdoors, gathering whatever sunshine they may. The osteospermum, or Kalahari daisies, are going great guns still. Every plant is covered in blooms. So here is a shot of two of them, with their pretty pink and white blooms, on the front porch steps.

I wanted a song for flowers, and here is a favorite. I know where MY flowers are. Do you know where YOURS have gone? Here are Peter, Paul, and Mary, with Where Have All the Flowers Gone. My words about what will be or won't be also brought to mind this fun tune, and I'll bet you can find this very album in my parents' collection: Porter Wagoner, with What Ain't to Be, Just Might Happen. Here's a cover version by Dolly Parton. A few of its lyrics appear below, and they are a good reminder!

It don't do no good (no good, no good) to worry none (worry none)
Just turns your hair gray while you're still young
Love can make you sing start your hands a clappin'
What is to be will be what ain't to be just might happen
