Wound up in Wexford

Weeping beech

A trip up to Thomastown, via Woodstock Gardens in Inistioge (pronounced Inisteeg).

I've been struggling with a back sprain (brought on by rather over-ambitiously trying to emulate Superman whilst in Costa Rica) which is finally settling, but which is currently curtailing my inclination to walk much.  Today we had booked a concert in Thomastown, and given that it was decent weather for a change, I was keen to at least get in a short walk.  So we stopped en route at Woodstock Garden.

We didn't walk far, but it was enough to introduce us to this rather lovely tree - a weeping beech.  And when researching it this evening, I discovered a weeping copper beech for sale from an Irish nursery.  One tree led to another, and with no effort at all, I've spent rather a lot of money!

The concert in Thomastown was a delight.  The Far Flung Trio.  Such enthusiasm and expertise.  Due to forgetfulness on my part, we're actually booked to see the same concert again in a couple of weeks, in Waterford.  We were quite far back in a rather packed concert hall in Thomastown, so we'll get to the Waterford venue a bit early and hope for better seats.
