At RSPB Old Moor

A dry sunny morning, for a walk with Patricia (old friend) and her lurcher Hector.  We went to a nature reserve, where wetlands have been established in former coal-mining areas along the Dearne Valley.
You can't take dogs right into the nature reserve, but sections of the Trans Pennine Trail go around the edge of it, so that's where we went.
Needing to keep up with Hector, we didn't pause much to look out for birds. There were many to listen to, however, as well as many indications of spring growth to come. I liked the way that the sunlight was catching these catkins, hanging over the water.
No Luca with us today, as it's half-term and our routine's different this week. I'll still be taking Eben to his drum lesson later though.
