London Road Meadow

So this week I did blip the long narrow 'meadow' in the space between London Road proper and Lower London Road. It is about 350m long and no wider than a few metre, with pavements on both sides and yet it is full of flowers and other wild plants. Weeds I suppose, but is a meadow just weeds? I walked along the lower road on my way back from football - a decent game of six-a-side (or at least it was when the sides evened up due an injury to one of our team). Strange that we were more effective without an extra player as we came back from four goals down to win by one.
Watched a programme on TV this evening about the street photographer Vivian Maier. Is she the prototype blipper? Although she took her pictures for herself. And towards the end of her life she couldn't even afford to develop the films she took, so once the image was captured, even she never saw it again. With many thousands of images, somewhat scattered between different collectors, it is difficult to be sure that the images we are being shown are as much a product of the person selecting them as they are a completely accurate impression of Vivian's personal interests. Interesting programme, although it struck me how much speculating was going on. And having started by saying she wasn't really a photographer who didn't know about other photographers, later on there was speculation that she did look at the works of the great photographers, which would make more sense of her work, putting it into some sort of context of twentieth century photography. Think I need to read more about her, and look at more of her work.
