Arnside Golf course.

Not many people know that from 1906 to WW2 Arnside had its own golf course. And most of it occupied the lower slopes of Arnside Knott. Recent research by Mrs. K. has unearthed more information about this. It helps to explain some of the features seen when walking in this area.
We are grateful for this information to the fascinatihg Website called Golf’s Missing Links “ The Internet’s most comprehensive guide to the golf courses of yesteryears.”

Of course the Knott is now owned by the National Trust and any  proposal now to use part of it for Golf would be met by very strong opposition. There would be outrage just as there was a few decades ago when there was a proposal to run a cable car from the shore to its summit.
