I am responsible for buying milk at my workplace and monitoring whether what is in the fridges is still usable. Nobody will drink it after its 'best before' date, even though it is fine, and one colleague used to throw it away two days after it had been opened. The result is that I bring home a lot of milk: mostly still usable in tea for a day or two, some of it off. Yesterday I made a big batch of cheese scones using turned milk and I took them into work today. They disappeared faster than I expected.
