Out with the old and in with the new.

After committing an arm and a leg the replacement solar panel for the weather station turned up today.

Then I thought “Why have we spent all that money when we can see how much rain we have had???”.

Well it is Saturday I suppose.

Somehow I think we pay ransom prices for the spare parts, but it is very good stuff.  The station has been out there in all sorts of weather since 2009, and it does send info to the Met Office, Weather Link, and our own website. (Links here if you are interested.)

Bit of a tidying up day following on from yesterday.  I’m pleased to say that the ‘scanners corner’ is now fully operational for the first time since I dumped it together (quite a few years ago!).  I have two specialist scanners that I want to use.  One is  ‘Minolta Dimage Scan Elite F-2900 film scanner’ which needs a scsi card which has not been supported since ‘Windows XP’, the other is an ‘HP Flatbed scanner’ which has not been supported since ‘Windows 7’.

I did have a cast-off W7 pooter plus an old XP pooter doing the jobs, then yesterday I realised that the HP Scanner would work on the XP machine, so down to one pooter in the corner now, and much more space.  The down side is that I no longer have an excuse for not digitising our 35mm slides . . .
