Pic Saint Loup

You can't miss this mountain just north of Montpellier - in fact you can see it from the centre of that city - and it's known for its good wines produced from vines on the lower slopes around it. While we were in the area we bought some to bring back as we've always enjoyed them (especially an excellent one we chose to accompany our special meal on Monday evening) and they make an interesting change from our local ones. We also brought back olive oil from the cooperative in Sommières - oil from Négrette olives and a bottle of d'Antan (old-fashioned) made from ripe, black Picholine olives. Of course, my favourite olive oil of all is made by our friends here in the village at the Moulin de Casso, but it's interesting to try different methods and varieties.

Summer has definitely started at last as we've heard the cicadas today!

Home now, with all its reponsibilities - just off to water the garden, and work tomorrow morning - but with a lot of wonderful memories of our trip.
