Another book written by an Irish writer and deeply rooted in recent Irish history, this latest book held my attention but I have finished it tonight with more questions than answers. Not always a bad thing in a book. There are some beautifully crafted sentences, an unreliable narrator, tears and quirky characters. It’ll be one that stays with me, I think and would probably warrant a second read.

First day of term four was hectic, still covering for other folk and enough of my own teaching to fill the day. There were still jobs to be done at the end of it but I got home to Bailey - and my book - eventually.
