St John's Garden...

...in the pouring rain.  This little garden, tucked in the back streets of Clerkenwell, is a popular place for office workers to eat their sandwiches on warmer, drier days.  Like a lot of small London gardens, it was originally a burial site.  It was the graveyard for St John's Monastery just up the road, of which there are a few remains.  The Order was the origin of St John's Ambulance.  I love the planting, with camellias, hellebores, prunus and wonderful tree ferns :-)
