Paddy’s Hole at South Gare

After a second laser treatment today, Sainsbury’s delivery and a pretty wet and windy morning, we took the dogs 20 minutes up the road to South Gare. Also known locally as Paddy’s Hole, it’s an area of huge blip opportunity and I wasn’t disappointed.
You also pass along the edge of Coatham Marsh Nature Reserve, and to the left is the old steelworks and what is left of the blast furnace.
All for blipping another day I expect.

Paddy’s Hole is basically a boat storage facility but also lots of dereliction, scrap cars, industrial buildings etc. Seemingly it was named after the Irish navvies who helped build the breakwater at the mouth of the River Tees.

A few extra pictures worth looking at.

And for those that are interested, yesterday’s mystery object is in fact a fixed towbar for a model bus tow wagon. So there you go!
