From a different world

We drove over to Meltham this morning for brunch with John and Marina. A relaxed and enjoyable couple of hours.

The only drawback of starting the day like that is that it seems very difficult to get going afterwards! Grey and wet yet again, with no option of gardening, so I mostly pottered and tackled a few household chores. Contacted the electrician again too - hopefully he'll be back in touch in a couple of days to fix a date to fit a more-modern timer to our boiler.

Sorting through the book case this afternoon, and came across these two pamphlets. Beneath them is "Married Love" by Marie Stopes, first published in March 1918 but this is a copy of the 24th edition published in October 1940. They belonged to my mother, and make an interesting read. It was a very different world when she was young...
