Experts

Many of the houses in this area are on very steeply sloping hillsides, and builders have to be experts in building retaining walls. A few weeks ago, a small part of the wall by the main road collapsed. The wall looked very old, and the huge amounts of rain that's fallen recently may have had something to do with its collapse. I pass it every time I walk into Holmfirth, and it's been interesting to see the different stages of preparation before the wall is rebuilt.

Walked in this afternoon to fetch my repeat prescription, and somehow managed to avoid the showers. Much colder than of late, and there's a sprinkling of snow on the higher hills.

MrM came back from work slightly early this evening, still feeling rough with his cold. Apparently several other employees have had the same bug, and it seems to hang around for several weeks. Hoping I'm not next in line...
