Usually hairy

I photographed this spider in our garden today, resting at the centre of its web. I tried to identify it, without much success - an orb weaver of some sort I think.

One website offered the insight that their body and legs are usually hairy - it is believed that those hairs are their major sensors, as the eyes to humans, to sense the world.
