Above And Beyond...

St Michael's

Driving from Monmouth uphill towards Chepstow on the B4293, not far from Llanishen, is a signpost for Tor Y Mynydd with it's ancient St Michael's Church (14th Century).  It was pouring with rain so I headed to Chepstow for a walk around town before heading back to the church when the weather improved.

The church was restored in 1854AD but is likely built on the site of a Celtic (largely wood) church due to it's circular boundary and the archaeology done there. Nice to see it for the first time and good to see it's still used for regular services. It's open on weekend's in the summer months so I'll have to return for a look inside.

We're off out tonight to see in the weekend, so have a good one yourself, and as Dave Allen would say, "Goodnight, thank you, and may your God go with you!"
