Putting The Tower In Torremolinos

Today’s jaunt was a trip by train down the coast to Torremolinos. We were curious to see it as Kate, Joel and Sophie had a very enjoyable holiday there last summer.

After a stop for coffee we had a very pleasant walk along the promenade as far as the boundary with Benalmádena, with no sign of the high rise hotels and English bars it used to have a probably undeserved reputation for back in the 80s. I blame Monty Python!

The walk to and from the station through the old town took us past the tower in the blip which gave the town its name. Originally a look out tower, a neighbourhood of windmills grew up around it.

It was renamed the Pimentel Tower in honour of a soldier who was instrumental in capturing Malaga on behalf of Ferdinand and Isabella.
In extra, a view of the length of our walk. It clouded over by late afternoon.
