Silver Line

It was a day of mixed weather; cool and windy, with lots of rain in the morning and some sunshine between showers in the afternoon. That’s when B and I went for our vineyard walk, and I took this photo of the silvery river Rhine in the Rheingau valley. If you look very closely, you can perhaps spot the kestrel just above the horizon (or in the upper left corner of the thumbnail).

We only had one hour for our walk, as B was going to see a handball game later (she used to play for the local club), so we went for a shorter round along the edge of the forest. Not a great idea, as it turned out: after the recent downpours, the forest trail was all slippery, boot-sucking mud. In the end we gave up and walked home along the main road.
