Waterfall Clouds …

(orographic clouds) … have been appearing, then disappearing, all day as the foehn winds swept through our part of the Alps. I was hoping for some sunset colour on the Dents du Midi.

The strong winds meant we had a flat walk down to the end of the lake for some bird watching. In a sheltered bay we saw the rare Pygmy Cormorant which is about a third of the size of the common Great Cormorant. Both are in extras for the birders amongst you. I shall try for better shots next time I go there.
