Nicky and her Nikon

Winter trees

Last night the wind was so strong it kept me awake by causing doors to bang in the house as the wind blew through the open windows. Today was extremely windy and quite cold, but at least it was dry with some sunshine.

A day of chores - laundry, grocery shopping and catching up on some admin. Tonight is camera club so I need to get supper made earlier than usual before I head off to the meeting.

Yesterday we (the family) were all upset to hear that a much loved maths teacher at the boys' school (who is still teaching) has suddenly been diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer. The outcome is not looking good. Then on top of that bad news we heard that a very brilliant chemistry teacher who also taught the boys, died last week from cancer. I knew him well as he was in the school photography group for parents. I did not even know he was ill so that news came as a sudden shock too. Last week I heard that a member of our camera club who got ill just over a year ago has also died from cancer. Cancer is still such an insidious disease, despite making breakthroughs by scientists in so many areas it still cannot always be beaten.

Inca left after lunch to go back to Cambridge. Tomorrow she has a deadline for an essay, she also has a presentation to do, and has an exam to write. It will be a busy day for her!
