Slept better than I expected to and woke with the first alarm I’d set at 2.45. A slight shock to my system!

We made it to the airport just before 4am and dropped off the car before heading through security. Nothing flagged up apart from the buckles in my dungarees which needed a manual search. The two packets of bacon requested by our nephew made it to Spain unscathed.

A bacon roll and cup of coffee helped wake me up before we arrived at the gate in time to be second in line for the priority queue. Painless flight and we arrived into Madrid slightly ahead of schedule. Immigration took almost an hour as we arrived at the same time as several other flights but there wasn’t any point complaining. Mr PHL’s brother was waiting for us as we left the security hall and it was a quick 40 minute journey to their house in the village of El Boala to the north west of Madrid. Our Brice and nephew were both home as both were a little under the weather and had stayed off school.

A lovely walk with their rescue dog Mia whetted our appetite for lunch after we took a trip to the local supermarket for bread and a few other essentials. We had lovely crisp sunshine but just made it back before the sleepy rain started.

Peter has put together a chicken and veg tagine for dinner which is steaming away tantalisingly as I type. My sister in law should be back from work shortly and it will be lovely to catch up with her this evening.
Thanks to Laurie54 for hosting MonoMonday. Mia’s coat is very textured so thought it worth a blip.,
