a lifetime burning

Mr Conductor

Back on the flooded Somerset levels the ducks all seem to be having a fine time despite the viciously cold strong northerly wind. I'd hoped to get some more shots of the Hen Harriers but it wasn't to be.   I saw the Ringtail for a few minutes but she never came close enough to photograph.

Instead, here is a male Teal Duck caught mid flap, looking for all the world as if he was about to conduct the orchestra for their next number.  I'm too high above the duck for me to be happy with the end result, but today was not the day for trying to get to be eye level with ducks - it was far too cold and the ground is very wet after the weekend's rain.

Co-incidentally, this time a year ago, the Greylag Goose was the conductor.
