A place in time

Hotel de Lorraine

A quirky find many years ago in a shop in Stow-on-the-Wold.  I just love the design & colours on this “tapestry” (it’s a modern piece so will be machine-made, but you get the idea) plus it’s got my name on it!

There’s something about France - I almost feel like I’ve “come home” whenever we go there, and it doesn’t matter which area or town.  I love them all.  I simply adore the architecture, always marvelling that it’s so different from ours despite being only a few miles across the English Channel.  And of course, I love the food & wine!

(Edited to add:  there appear to be several Hotel de Lorraine hostelries, and I always assumed this was simply artistic licence...but perhaps someone in Blipland might know if this image does actually exist somewhere...?)

Thought for the day:

”French architecture always manages to combine the most  magnificent underlying themes of architecture; like Roman design, it looks to the community.”

- Stephen Gardiner
