Morning light

I came downstairs to put the kettle on, and reached for the camera - it seemed such a long time since we'd had morning sun casting shadows on the floor. It didn't last long though - the day soon reverted to rain, wind and gloom. It was also a day when the everyday necessities occupied almost all of the time, with little opportunity to progress with any of the current projects.

More positively, we finally caught a mouse upstairs. We've trapped and relocated many in the past, but the recent invaders have been disturbing the traps and eating the peanut butter but avoiding capture; and more mystifyingly, they appear to have carried off one of the traps, which has disappeared without trace from the floor on which it was placed. This morning, however, a slightly different kind of trap succeeded, and P took a small mouse for a long morning walk to a delightful small bluebell wood on top of the downs, where he released it to join the colonies descended from our previous uninvited visitors. I hope it's grateful. Perhaps some of its friends and relations will join it before long.
