Plane spotting!

Monday
Today was an unusually warm sunny day, topping out at 71F (21C)! So the bike trail was definitely calling our name! We went south today, starting from Avoca trailhead, and heading south, over the Beechmont Avenue bridge, and then instead of taking the trail to Otto Armleddder Park, which we have done a couple of times, this time we went straight on, which takes you alongside Lunken airport, Cincinnati Municipal airport, owned by the City of Cincinnati and serving corporate, private and charter aircraft. It served as the city’s main airport until 1947. It was supplanted by the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky International airport after flooding from the Ohio River and the introduction of larger aircraft that needed longer runways. As we began to pass the airport, I spotted a bench overlooking the airport, so after going a bit further and feeling I had probably done enough for the day - I’m still building back up to longer distances- I decided to turn round and go back to the bench, and take a few photos through the fence while Roger continued on, and ended up doing a loop around the airport - an extra 3 miles I think he said. When he returned, he said he’d found a better viewing spot at the end of the runway, so I’ll save that one for another time!
