130 Rings

Friend Helen and I paused awhile on our walk in the Estate this morning to mourn this tree, one of the casualties from the mix of wet and windy weather in recent months.  Someone, possibly the local ranger, has patiently counted its rings and, if you look closely at the slice in the foreground, written on '130 years old' for us.  It's always sad when a healthy tree comes down.

Helen and I enjoyed cuppas and carrot cake at the cafe before returning home.  This afternoon I've had a meeting with a trustee of a local charity in the hope that a proposal put forward by our street residents will be viewed favourably and give us the green light for a community project.  Watch this space.

Meanwhile, our lady decorators have progressed to the challenge of our stairwell!
