Gaia's Child

Leave It!

Fletcher was curious about a creature he found on our walk this morning. It was attempting to cross the street, so I moved it to safety in some grass. That's when I spotted the other one. A quick search identified them as Scarab Beetle, aka 'dung beetle, larvae. I searched my photos and found this shot (check the *extra) of a Dung Beetle I took a couple of years ago doing its thing in our back yard. I read in several places that Dung Beetles are considered one of the strongest animals on the planet! Actually, these are probably the larvae of the Florida Deep Digger Scarab Beetle, a native Florida Scarab (dung beetle). Perhaps TMI, sorry.  m
