The Costa del Southbank beach is closed

I guess that they have to keep the drunks off the sand. You wouldn't want to take a dip or start making sand castles - the sand is just a thin layer on top of the filthy estuarial mud. Also from this distant shot you can't see the build up of toilet flotsam and a floating debris, a bin lid and a few beer cans.

I guess that it will be a while before this beach is awarded a blue flag.
